Underbelly episode eight — 'Diamonds'

Allison questions her role in the Mr Asia syndicate after her life is threatened by a corrupt Federal Narcotics Bureau agent. Colourful racing identity, George Freeman, takes extreme action after police raid his illegal casinos. The Mr Asia syndicate suffers a major setback when a drug courier is arrested. Federal Police get significant new resources to target the drug trade, while corrupt cops plan to seize control of organised crime in Australia.

With Terry relocated to the UK, Allison is determined to get on with the Australian end of the business; crushing heroin, recruiting couriers and fending off increasingly desperate sensations of loneliness and isolation.

But when a new courier is caught carrying a large amount of heroin into Australia, Allison is faced with a terrifying new challenge. The Federal Narcotics Bureau team, led by Agent Jack Smith, are on her tail and prepared to play nasty. Smith pushes an already badly shaken Allison almost to the edge.

Meanwhile, George Freeman is unimpressed when his cop "mates" shut down all nine of his illegal casinos in order to regain some credibility with the public. But a certain someone is also unimpressed with Freeman — perhaps because Freeman took his plumber Michael Hurley's wife, Natalie, into his home, while Hurley was in The Philippines. Or perhaps because Freeman rigged a horse race without telling anyone. Whatever the reason, Freeman ends up with a bullet in the head ... and it hurts like hell.

One hell of a ride. I was there in Sydney at the time, Living on the street's of kings cross. I knew people like Dr Nick Paltos he was my doctor for many year's. I met Murray Farhquar and his Wife one night they picked me up while i was hitchiking to hornsby on my way to queensland i was 15 year's old. I knew Abe Safron he bought me dinner. And many other's Underbelly the tale of Sydney. Is not showing any of the glamour' Sydney had back then in the 70s. Also i notice not all the player's are present as in character's..
Great story, but far too much nudity in this series. It's nudity for the sake of nudity - we get the idea now of how seedy the places were so no need to show so much female anatomy every show. I am really turned off by it. Please just stick to the great storylines.
Damn there's some idiots out there... This is a public forum about a tv show and some go picking up on spelling mistakes..... get a life people The show is great, 1st season was great but a bit over the top, the 2nd season is more on true facts and order of the facts (unfortunately, 1st season wasn't quiet correct with some of the timing). Looking forward to the 3rd installment in early 2010... hopefully, the show will focus more on the true identity of the Melbourne underground crime syndicate and include the Great Mark 'Chopper' Read (if the media ban on him can be lifted). Back to the spelling nobs............. NOT A SINGLE MISTAKE HERE.......
underbelly 2 is way better no 1 most interesting
this is one great bit of aussie tv.i think they have got it right.i cant wait for underbelly 3.
I like the second Underbelly series better than the first, the recent story has had too much media involvement recently as its been played out, where as the current series is a 30 yr old story and is therefore more interesting.I agree, most blogs here are incorrectly spelt.back 2 school peoples.!!!!
When wil you repeat the series? I missed ep 7...
I came to Australia in the 80's and for a 7 year old at the time. I do remember most of the stuff in the press about our corrupt Police. However it's interesting how well people like Kiwi Terry and others in the underworld have maintain discreet. I applaud the show for the insight of the drug trade, and giving us a bit of history of Crimes in Australia. The information may not all be true, but a least it gives me a better understanding of the Australian culture. Not say its all bad, but at least its not American.
i loved the first season, the second season is now becoming as good as the first.at the start i thought it was a little bit much with the sex scenes and nudity because i felt like it was focusing more on that than the actual storyline, but now since its focusing on the story even more its getting even better! i might even end up liking this season more than the first.im really looking forward to the next season.
Uneducated has no hyphen (which makes your comment highly ironic). Maybe you should understand grammar before you insult others' spelling. And underbelly is a great show!! Love it.
