Hometown: Romsey, Victoria
Relationship status: single

Quote: "I don't want to rule the world ... I want to improve it for my kids."

John is currently unemployed after losing his job through restructuring, but he most recently worked in service engineering for Ford for 10 years.

The past 18 months have been rough for John. His wife left him, his mother passed away then he became unemployed, but he's ready to start a new phase and not wallow in pity.

Originally working as a tradesman, John moved into the corporate world, and now his dream is to build his own company so his three children can eventually take over the reins and continue his legacy.

John's father was a storeman and his mother a waitress. His father was very strict, driven and instilled in him a great work ethic. John expects to win, not just make up numbers.

He describes himself as loyal, passionate, determined and family-orientated. He admits to being forgetful and anally retentive at times. John plays the bass guitar and makes timber furniture.

Were the apprentices ever told that it's against hotel rules to smoke outside? If not, is it fair John was fired?
John mate why did you break the rule of smoking?? as you are the most genuine player on the show and you didnt take the control like I thought you may, very sorry to see you go,maybe in my opinion it should had been Sabrina. good luck in the future.
Well done John. It is interesting to note two comments made by "the boss"- "Don't worry about these other two, let them fight for themselves" and "He (you) was the most honest of all of them". Apparently humility and honesty mean nothing to Bouris because he fired you. This is so typical of people whose only measure of success is money.
geez....step out the front of the Marriot to have a puff...mate there must have been a back door or car park area. whatever u stuffed up on the job sorry buddy you must be fired!
I had the great pleasure of meeting a lot of the cast from The Apprentice at the Cox Plate (John, Morello, Carmen, Sabrina, Amy) and they were all terrific people, very engaging and friendly. But the most genuine and down to earth was John. I may be a bit biased, as I'd always liked John, liked his modesty, his passion, his love for his kids, and now having met him I definitely want him to win! He is smart, determined and a bloody good bloke! Go John, great to meet you mate. Nick
Great going so far John hope you go all the way. You deserve this more. I have been watching from the very start of this series its great to watch. Being a single mum its great to know there is someone out there willing to give single parents a fair go. Tina
These two principles appear to be missing in a few of the contestants. Morella has them. So does Mary-anne but John has them in spades. Good luck John and I hope you do well. Any employer would be lucky to have you as an employee.
Hi John, gee mate your starting to come out more showing some of your talents even in the kitchen, OK mate come out futher and take on a challange, and try and give it your best shot of taking control for an esopide. cheers and good luck your coming along fine. tia-maria
Hi John, I usually don't write these sorts of things but I've been in a similar position and can suggest that you're doing everything right. Just be yourself. As I know, even though you're not always with your kids it doesn't mean you're not thinking about them. I see you as genuine, trustworthy and well presented. If I could, I would consider taking you on in my business. Best of luck.
Take off those gloves matey and show us some business bolshie.
