… and for a split second I wonder whether these jungle cats are some kind of security measure Big Brother has had installed of late.

Armed with my Access All Areas pass, today it’s time to get a first glimpse at the hallowed House. While it’s still classed as a construction site, I want a sneak peek – even if it requires a run-in with Simba’s cousins.

Breezing past a surly-looking gatekeeper twice-my-size with chops to match, I lock eyes with what will become the Housemate’s home sweet home in under 30 days. Amid a flurry of electricians and painters, I slip through an opened door into one of the darkened camera runs and have to hold my breath …

Whoa.

First thing’s first: the House feels a lot bigger than anything we’ve seen before. In a feat worthy of Grand Designs, the House’s architects and builders have stripped, peeled and collapsed the former site right back to its original state (notevenkidding, they found remnants of 2001 behind them walls) to allow for brand a new fit-out … with quite the eye-catching centrepiece.

But – don’t worry – for all you sentimental folk playing at home, there’s still some signs of seasons past: in more ways than one. I can’t say more than that for fear of ruining all the fun. Loose lips sink ships after all.

What I can tell you is that there’s a strong theme running through the house this year and I – for one – got quite a’flutter at the house’s interior. Think bold. Think big. Think botanicals. And if all that has you climbing the walls with excitement, then be sure to water the plants while you’re up there.

There’s plenty of space to be put to task. And some delightful nooks to nestle down for a D&M. And, as always, everything will be caught on camera with those deceptive two-way mirrors wrapping up this very tidy package.

As I hopped, skipped and jumped through some other rooms – I felt the faint smell of cedar. T’was quite the way to finnish. Things are heating up in anticipation of the big launch … Stay tuned Brothers and Sisters and make sure you adjust your channel, all the clues you need are hidden between the lines.
