Sticky toffee pudding

Sticky toffee pudding is a classic English dish and a perfect dessert for a cold winter night. Lyndey Milan joined Kerri-Anne to create this winter delight.

Sticky toffee pudding

Serves 8-10

Ingredients

  • 185g stoned dates

  • 1 cup (250ml) water

  • 1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  • 2 tablespoons (60g) butter

  • 2 eggs

  • 3/4 cups (185g) sugar

  • 1 1/4 cups (185g) self raising flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence

Sauce

  • 150g brown sugar

  • 2/3 cup (150ml) cream

  • 1/2 (110g) butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method

1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius

2. To make the pudding, cook the dates in water until they reach a jammy consistency, stirring frequently to break them up.

3. Beat in the remaining ingredients and mix well.

4. Butter and flour an oblong baking tray with edges and pour in the mixture.

5. Bake on the centre shelf on an oven for 25 minutes or until pudding is cooked.

6. To make the sauce, place all the sauce ingredients in a pan, bring to the boil and boil for 5 minutes.

7. To serve cut the pudding into wedges and serve with the sauce and thick cream.

It means brush inside of oblong cake pan with butter, then put about a tablespoon of flour in baking pan and shake around until covered. This puts a lining on pan so that pudding does not stick to cake pan when cooked
Your Sticky toffee pudding looks very nice. Can you explain 3 & 4. I am not sure what you are trying to say No3 Beat in the remaining ingredients and mix well.
