The question about when women in all states got the vote, referred to earlier, was quite right. They didn't ask when ALL women in all states got the vote, only when women in all states got the vote. The people who posted messages ignored the heroic Ngarrindjeri people who stood up to the authorities at Point McLeay in SA and demanded the right to vote - more than 70 including Ngarrindjeri women voted in the colonial election of 1896 and because the first commonwealth elections were held using state electoral laws and rolls, they voted in the first federal election! Later racist laws didn't stop the Ngarrindjeri from voting federally until 1933 when 11 voters were removed from the rolls at Point McLeay. So although aborigines started getting the vote again in 1962, a few aboriginal women voted right at the start... but not WOMEN IN ALL STATES. Check your facts before you make unfounded claims. Check out 'Aboriginal South Australians and Parliament' on the Parliament of SA website.
Why is Eddie obsessed with age? Why introduce every contestant by their age? Why describe someone as 21 year old student, 45 years of age schoolteacher, 68 years old retired engineer etc. Their must be more interesting and relevant information about the contestants than their age. I can make an age judgement if necessary, but do not find it compelling to do so. Age shouldn't be the focal point. Drop it Eddie!
Being apart of the show was seriously the best experience of my life. Eddie was great and the crew was fantastic. Everybody is so friendly and it was just a joy to be apart of the show. I cant stress enough how much fun i had!! I would do it again in a hearTbeat, shame you can only do it once. So a huge thank you to EVERYONE involved in hotseat. Thank you for making the experience one not to forget, and to top it all off i own $1000. What more could you ask for....hahaha. Was a joy! Thank you all. Nakia
I would also like the shoe ladies details
It just cannot be coincidence--how is it possible that at least one contestant each night has some connection with Eddie everywhere or has met some national celebrity and has a story that Eddie can relate to ??????
I appeared on the show last night and even though i didnt win, i had the best time. The whole day was great and i would like to thank channel 9 for making my first quiz show appearence such a wonderful experience.
Please tell me, is it just me? Last nights Millionaire Hotseat (MHS) had a question about when women in all states were given the vote. It wasn't until 10th August 1967 that Aboriginal people were given the vote. It was decided in a referendum earlier THAT year by more than 90% and enacted in August. If the question had been phrased differently the answer they said was correct, would have been correct. Leaving out about half the Aboriginal people not only makes the answer incorrect but it is really horrible. I'm not Aboriginal but I found this offensive. I'm interested to see what others think (am I just splitting hairs?)
WA-aboriginal vote 1962 QLD- 1965 source- AEC
aboriginees did not receive right to vote till 1967, this would include aboriginal women.I assume they are included
The show broadcast on Thursday 9 July asked a deaf woman "when did women in all states get the vote," offering options of 1902, 1930, 1945 and 1960. She gave the answer 1945 which was correctly adjudged incorrect. However, The Australian Electoral Commission websites states that "The Menzies Liberal and Country Party government gave the Commonwealth vote to all Aborigines in 1962. Western Australia gave them State votes in the same year. Queensland followed in 1965." This would appear to indicate the correct answer to be 1965.
